Stranraer: Ryan Centre: sports & leisure, swimming pool, cinema.
Agnew Park: Boating lake, play area, miniature railway, crazy golf, beach, gardens.
Beaches: A selection of beautiful beaches for walking, fishing, exploring rockpools, swimming, or simply lazing in the sun.
Boat Trips: Trips along the coastline are available from Portpatrick aboard the MV Solstice used in the filming of the BBC series 'Two Thousand Acres of Sky'.
Fishing: Knockquhassen Reservoir is only half a mile away offering excellent fishing and there are many other reservoirs, rivers, lochs and beaches in the local vicinity. Full or half day fishing trips are available from both Portpatrick and Stranraer and there are excellent fishing shops nearby supplying equipment, bait and advice on the best locations etc.
Ferry Trips: The HSS from Straraer will take you to Belfast in a little under two hours to enjoy the shops or a scenic bus tour to the Mountains of Mourne amongst other places. As an alternative the P&O ferries from the nearby port of Cairnryan - only twenty minutes drive - offer day trips to Larne.
Wildlife /Farm Parks: There are a number of wildlife and farm parks set amidst the beautiful Galloway countryside and within easy reach which make for a great day out for both adults and children.
Galloway Forest: Only a half hour drive from the cottages offering an abundance of walks of varying lengths and difficulties. Spend the afternoon lazing by the otter pools or simply take a drive along one of the specially created vehicle tracks finishing with coffee and a piece of home baked cake from the visitors centre.
Horseriding: There are equestrian centres nearby offering lessons, hacks and pony trekking.
Shopping: There are an abundance of food, clothing and gift shops in Stranraer, Portpatrick, Girvan, Ayr, Glasgow and Belfast.
Activity Centres: A number of local centres specialise in off-road driving, tank driving, quad biking, game / clay pigeon / paintball shooting, fishing etc. Why not spend an action-packed day in the country?
Gardens: A selection of beautiful gardens close by in which to take a stroll and enjoy the abundance of plants and shrubs including the renowned Botanical gardens at Port Logan only fifteen minutes drive away.
